Immunity and IMHA - Just another normal?

Let’s start with an assumption, mother nature never designed the immune system to protect us from chemicals or even to work under these toxic conditions. This has occurred over just the last 50 years or so and this can hardly be called a normal time line for the adaptation of the immune system. Rather than calling Dylan’s immune response abnormal, I am calling it normal and it is the toxic man made chemicals on the ground and in the air that are [More…]

Dog Dylan: Autoimmune Hemolytic Anemia - The Battle of Prednisone!

What a tough situation we find ourselves in during this fight for life. We are pretty much at the mercy of our vets when we start this journey. Having to put full trust in them immediately. To diagnose the condition and explain it to us and treat it appropriately. All sounds very easy, but with AIHA it is not. There is a tendency for this disease to strike fear in the hearts of those who treat it and that fear is easily [More…]

Getting through Autoimmune Hemolytic Anemia: From My Heart for My AIHA/IMHA Friends and for All Dogs!

Today I have made some new friends once again. Great dog lovers for sure. Unfortunately, once again these new friends are from our common bond of fighting for the lives of our beloved dogs. It is our love of our dogs that bonds us. Our need to fight and help our dogs and the dogs of others like ours is strong. You cannot know what fighting this disease is like until you have seen it strike the energy and life from your [More…]

Stress Free: Helping Your Dog See The World In a Better Way

You don’t have to look very far to see what stress can do in a dog.  I walk a mile around my neighborhood and I will face at least three dogs who bark and scream at me and my dogs with amazing intensity.  I often wonder how long it will be before they are in for a hernia. There are a few more who bark incessantly, but are not necessarily blowing a gasket to do so.  Then, in that same mile, there [More…]

Dog Dylan: Autoimmune Hemolytic Anemia - The First Battle to Save Her Life (Detailed Draft Version for AIHA/IMHA fighters).

Dog Dylan’s story began March 18, 2011.  She was diagnosed with Autoimmune Hemolytic Anemia (AIHA)/Immune Mediated Hemolytic Anemia (IMHA) , on March 19th, 2011; when my quest to save her and her second life as an AIHA survivor began. This version of the story is my first draft version, written in detail for those currently fighting the disease and maybe those who have fought this disease for the life of their dogs.  It contains drug use and dosage used in Dylan’s treatment [More…]

Kidney: My Dog's Acquired Taste - Using Desensitization

So I asked my friend Joe (Joe More), not to be confused with my dog Joey, what he thought the chances of Joey eating the kidney in his meal today were after refusing to eat it yesterday; he hummed and hawed.  In the end he gave in to my hints that he should go with Joey eating it. From my perspective, the answer was obvious.  All of my dogs eat their raw meat and bone dinner as though they are eating an [More…]

Dog Dylan Today - July 23, 2011

So what a great day!  Big smiles as we see a clear day, sunshine and no sign of AIHA! Today I sat outside enjoying a rare day of sunshine hanging out in my yard with my beautiful canine family. My dogs have had some exercise, except for Dylan who has only been out for a bit to say hello to our neighbors.  They all love the sun, but Dylan is more of an afternoon girl. She rarely goes out before 8 AM, [More…]
